Elon Musk has emphatically stated that none of his companies have any intention of venturing into the world of cryptocurrency. He made his stance “super clear,” putting an end to any speculation about future crypto endeavors.
To be super clear, none of my companies will ever create a crypto token
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 4, 2023
Musk’s declaration came in response to a tweet by a Dogecoin user known as DogeDesigner, who emphasized that neither Elon Musk nor xAI is affiliated with the meme coin Xai Corp (XAI). This clarification became necessary as Xai Corp’s value surged by an impressive 150% in response to the news that Musk’s xAI was launching.
Prior Denials
This isn’t the first time Musk has denied any plans for a cryptocurrency. In early August, he debunked rumors about his social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, launching an “X coin.” He categorically stated, “We never will” launch an X coin. Despite this, Musk had to refute similar speculations multiple times, leading to his recent unequivocal declaration to quell any ongoing and future rumors.
While Musk’s repeated denials may appear conclusive, it sparks hope within the crypto community that he might consider integrating Dogecoin payments on his X platform. Musk had hinted at this possibility when he acquired the platform. Even before purchasing a 9.2% stake in Twitter, Musk had discussed the idea of integrating DOGE for payments. He has been a vocal supporter of Dogecoin and maintains a friendship with its co-founder, Billy Markus, on Twitter.
Musk’s Critique of OpenAI
Beyond the cryptocurrency sphere, Elon Musk has been vocal about his concerns regarding OpenAI, the organization behind the ChatGPT program. Musk initially provided funding for OpenAI but parted ways with the board due to divergent visions. He criticized OpenAI for creating a “woke” ChatGPT that avoids sensitive issues like politics, religion, and sex, claiming it doesn’t provide honest interactions with users.
In response, Musk expressed his intent to establish a new AI company that aims to strike a balance between “woke” AI and AI programs that offer straightforward and unfiltered interactions with users. This move suggests Musk’s continued interest in shaping the development of artificial intelligence.
