Roblox, an immensely popular online game platform boasting more than 200 million monthly active users, has now added XRP as an accepted payment method. This development was revealed through a BitPay announcement on Twitter on October 17.
Collaboration for Smooth Integration
To facilitate the integration of XRP as a payment option, Xsolla, the platform responsible for in-game payments in Roblox, is actively supporting this move. BitPay, on the other hand, is acting as a partner to ensure a seamless connection with cryptocurrency wallets.

Roblox, accessible on various mainstream platforms including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, currently boasts an impressive user base, with 65.5 million daily active users. Notably, 44% of these users are under the age of 13. The first quarter of 2023 alone saw Roblox users collectively spending approximately $773 million on in-game purchases.
Xsolla’s Crypto Integration Initiatives
Xsolla has been taking proactive steps to integrate cryptocurrency into its payment system. In August 2022, the platform collaborated with Coinchange Financials Inc., an automated crypto management platform, and TradeZing, a live-streaming social Web3 platform, to develop a payment solution for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). More recently, in August 2023, Xsolla partnered with Crypto.com to integrate the latter’s checkout solution into the Xsolla Pay Station platform.
The partnership between Xsolla and BitPay dates back to 2014, when the service first began accepting payments in Bitcoin (BTC). Furthermore, in September 2023, BitPay and Xsolla introduced PayPal USD (PYUSD) payments for both merchants and consumers.
This integration of XRP as a payment method further underscores the growing trend of cryptocurrencies being embraced within the gaming industry, as it provides a convenient and secure alternative for in-game purchases.
