Ripple, a leading digital asset infrastructure company, has pledged $25 million to support classrooms and educators across the United States. In collaboration with nonprofit partners DonorsChoose and Teach For America, the initiative aims to improve academic outcomes, promote financial literacy, and help students and teachers thrive in an evolving economy.

Majority of Grant in Ripple’s Stablecoin

In a groundbreaking move, the bulk of the $25 million will be distributed in Ripple USD (RLUSD), Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin. This marks a first-of-its-kind initiative, where nonprofits will receive and utilise the crypto-based funds through platforms like The Giving Block. The adoption of stablecoins in philanthropic efforts reflects their growing role in crypto-enabled payments, which now make up more than half of all on-chain transaction volume, according to Chainalysis.

Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse expressed optimism about the initiative’s potential impact: “Ripple has always championed financial and educational access for all. We’re proud to support DonorsChoose and Teach For America to benefit thousands of classrooms. Our hope is that others will follow our lead, especially during Teacher Appreciation Week.”

Tackling Education Funding Gaps

This commitment comes at a time when U.S. public opinion on education is facing serious challenges. A 2024 Gallup survey reports that 55% of American adults and parents are dissatisfied with the quality of K-12 education, citing funding gaps and resource shortages. Ripple’s funding aims to directly address these challenges by equipping educators with tools and support to rebuild confidence in the classroom.

Alix Guerrier, CEO of DonorsChoose, highlighted the financial strain on teachers: “Educators often spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars from their own pockets for classroom resources. Ripple’s support will give teachers the essential tools their students need to succeed and prepare for a bright future.”

Supporting High-Impact Programmes

The funding will fuel a range of innovative programmes and initiatives. During Teacher Appreciation Week, thousands of classroom projects and teacher requests will be funded through DonorsChoose. Teach For America will use the support to expand its Ignite Tutoring Fellows programme, invest in its Reinvention Lab for education innovation, and provide financial aid to new corps members during training.

Aneesh Sohoni, CEO of Teach For America, called the donation “transformative”, adding, “Ripple’s partnership helps us deliver on our mission to ensure every child has access to quality education and the chance to thrive.”

Ripple’s Ongoing Philanthropic Mission

This latest commitment builds on Ripple’s broader philanthropic vision. Since 2018, the company has donated over $200 million to global initiatives. Through its University Blockchain Research Initiative, Ripple also supports academic institutions in advancing fintech and blockchain innovation. Nearly 80% of its employees participate in volunteering and giving programmes.

By integrating crypto solutions into its charitable work, Ripple is redefining how modern philanthropy can function—efficient, transparent, and scalable. This $25 million pledge reaffirms Ripple’s role as a pioneer in both fintech and social impact.
