The crypto sector is witnessing a revival, with American Bitcoin, a venture backed by Eric and Donald Trump Jr., announcing plans to list on Nasdaq. This move reflects the growing enthusiasm for equity-based crypto ventures, as the sector gains momentum under the administration of President Donald Trump.

A Strategic Merger to Dominate Bitcoin Mining

American Bitcoin, previously known as American Data Centers, was rebranded in March 2025 through a joint venture with Hut 8, a prominent Bitcoin miner. The rebranding coincided with an all-share merger with Gryphon Digital Mining, aiming to position the new entity as the leading Bitcoin accumulation platform.

Eric Trump, co-founder and chief strategy officer of the enlarged company, stated, “This brings us closer to offering every investor access to a purpose-built platform engineered for scale and long-term value creation in what we believe is one of the most important asset classes of our time.”

Shares in Gryphon Digital Mining surged by 350% following the announcement, underscoring the market’s enthusiasm for the merger and the broader appeal of strategic cryptocurrency initiatives.

Bitcoin’s Meteoric Rise Amid Policy Shifts

Bitcoin has surged over 35%, reaching $104,280 in May 2025 after hitting a low in April. This rally is part of a broader rebound in risky assets, driven by optimism about reduced trade tensions and a more favorable regulatory environment under the Trump administration.

President Trump has actively courted the digital assets industry, promising to make the United States a global leader in cryptocurrency innovation. His administration has softened enforcement measures, signaling a shift toward accommodating the sector’s growth.

Bitcoin’s resurgence is further bolstered by companies raising capital to acquire cryptocurrencies, which has often led to significant boosts in their share prices.

Corporate Adoption Drives Momentum

The merging of traditional finance and cryptocurrency markets is reshaping the global economic landscape. BTC Inc., the parent company of Bitcoin Magazine, recently merged its special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), Nakamoto Holdings, with KindlyMD, a Nasdaq-listed healthcare firm. This deal aims to raise $710 million to buy Bitcoin for corporate treasury purposes.

David Bailey, BTC’s CEO and co-founder, emphasized the potential of integrating Bitcoin with traditional financial structures:
“Traditional finance and Bitcoin-native markets are converging. The securitisation of Bitcoin will redraw the world’s economic map.”

KindlyMD’s shares soared 375% on the announcement, highlighting investor interest in Bitcoin-focused corporate strategies.

A Broader Crypto Investment Trend

American Bitcoin isn’t the only player capitalizing on the growing demand for cryptocurrency investment vehicles. Brandon Lutnick, son of US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, recently announced a Bitcoin acquisition initiative in partnership with SoftBank and Tether. This venture, with a pro forma enterprise value of $11 billion, aims to hold over 42,000 Bitcoin.

Additionally, Canadian-listed Sol Strategies and Nasdaq-listed Upexi raised funds to invest in tokens linked to Solana, a blockchain platform powering several high-profile memecoins. Both companies saw their share prices triple following their announcements.

The Road Ahead for Crypto Investments

The increasing securitisation of Bitcoin marks a pivotal moment for the cryptocurrency sector. Companies like American Bitcoin are leveraging traditional equity markets to solidify their positions as leaders in cryptocurrency accumulation.

As the industry aligns itself with mainstream financial markets, the backing of high-profile figures such as the Trump family is likely to accelerate adoption and innovation. However, the sector also faces scrutiny, with critics calling for greater transparency and regulatory oversight.

With its ambitious Nasdaq listing and strategic merger, American Bitcoin embodies the dynamic intersection of cryptocurrency and traditional finance, setting the stage for a transformative era in digital asset investment.
