With the “Gifts” feature, Telegram users may now purchase gifts for their pals. The presents will appear on a different tab in the user’s profile and resemble animated graphics to which you may add a note.
Gift recipients have the option to sell their presents for “Telegram Stars,” a virtual currency. The social messaging app introduced Stars, an in-app currency, earlier this year. The platform’s Mini Apps can now take payments for digital services thanks to this capability. It also made clear that creators can be supported with Stars.
In micro apps, the Stars would be used to pay for other services or to support the work of developers. Every contact profile has the ability to gift texts and emoticons that can be customised.
Telegram’s limited-edition gifts and business verification
There will be a limited supply of the new function. A portion of these limited-edition presents are meant to be exchanged for NFTs using Telegram’s TON-based blockchain. With the ownership of the gifts verified on the blockchain, these NFTs will allow users to exchange and auction the gifts outside of the app.
Pavel Valeryevich Durov, CEO of Telegram, offered his thoughts on the situation on his Telegram channel. He said that people can now send gifts to their friends and loved ones using the recently released option, and that the Christmas season—which includes his birthday—is rapidly approaching. He mentioned that NFT conversions will soon be supported by the animated artwork. The CEO noted that holders will have the ability to convert some presents into NFTs.
