Leading interoperability protocol Wormhole has unveiled further details regarding its upcoming W governance token launch and airdrop. The airdrop will be distributed to nearly 400,000 unique wallets across various community projects and users who have interacted with Wormhole applications on different blockchains.

A total of 617.3 million W tokens have been allocated for the “community and launch” category, with 500 million tokens designated for users who have actively used a Wormhole application on any of the 30+ supported chains. This list encompasses popular networks like Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, Aptos, and Arbitrum, along with NFT projects, DeFi platforms, and the Wormhole Discord community.

Wormhole has launched an airdrop eligibility checker to allow users to verify their wallet’s eligibility for the upcoming claim. While an official claim date hasn’t been announced, pre-market trading for the W token has already begun, with prices reaching $2.49 as of Monday.

The W token will be available as both a Solana SPL20 token and an Ethereum ERC-20 token, enabling cross-chain functionality across Ethereum, Solana and other EVM-compatible chains.
