Elon Musk has donated $75 million to America Pac, a pro-Donald Trump political action committee, over the last three months, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings. Musk’s contributions of $15 million in July, $30 million in August, and another $30 million in September have made him the sole donor to America Pac, which is heavily involved in Trump’s 2024 campaign.
Voter Turnout Operations in Key States
America Pac has become the principal player in Trump’s ground game efforts, deploying 400 canvassers per battleground state. The group’s focus on voter turnout is a crucial part of the Trump campaign’s strategy, particularly as it aims to reach voters three times before the November election. So far, America Pac has spent around $30 million, or 40% of its funds, on Trump’s voter mobilization alone, with the rest going toward down-ballot candidates and digital ads.
Musk’s Growing Political Involvement
Elon Musk political shift towards supporting Trump became public in July when he endorsed the former president and appeared at a rally in Pennsylvania. His involvement has intensified as he prepares to give a series of talks in Pennsylvania, a key state in the 2024 election. The billionaire, who once identified as a Democrat, has gradually aligned with conservative causes, donating millions to rightwing groups since 2022.
Potential Leverage over Trump
Musk’s backing of Trump could provide him significant influence if the former president wins re-election. Trump has already suggested Musk could have a role in his administration, a prospect that could solidify Musk’s sway over future policy decisions.
