Web3 gaming blockchain Ronin has announced its integration with Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to secure its cross-chain bridge. The partnership, unveiled on 10th October, aims to enhance the security of Ronin’s bridge while freeing up resources to drive the adoption of the blockchain network.
Chainlink’s CCIP is described as an inter-chain messaging protocol that allows users to send transactions and messages between different blockchains. Powered by decentralized oracle networks, it verifies the validity of these messages on both the sending and receiving chains.
Reinforcing Security with Chainlink
Ronin’s validators voted to adopt Chainlink’s CCIP after a thorough three-phase selection process. The integration is expected to improve security and user experience while accelerating the adoption of the Ronin network.
Jeff Zirlin, co-founder and chief growth officer of Sky Mavis, praised Chainlink’s proven reliability: “Chainlink is battle-tested and the backbone of the world’s largest DeFi platforms. Ronin will become stronger and more secure from their contributions.”

Johann Eid, chief business officer of Chainlink Labs, expressed excitement over the partnership: “We’re thrilled to see Ronin adopt Chainlink CCIP as their canonical cross-chain infrastructure, significantly improving the security of their bridge.”
Smooth Transition for Users
Ronin reassured token-holders that no action was required on their part. The integration will occur seamlessly in the background, with no need for users to migrate their tokens manually. Existing assets bridged using the current Ronin Bridge will be automatically upgraded to CCIP for native cross-chain transfers, initially supporting Ethereum and Ronin.
Boosting Security Post-Bridge Hack
The integration comes after the infamous Ronin Bridge hack in 2022, where over $600 million in crypto assets were stolen. In response, Ronin has bolstered its security by increasing its validator count. The Chainlink CCIP integration is expected to further enhance the bridge’s security and prevent future incidents.
The full migration to Chainlink’s CCIP is anticipated to be completed within the next two to three months.
