Layer-1 relational blockchain Chromia has captured attention with the launch of a $20 million AI and Data Ecosystem Fund, announced during the TOKEN2049 event in Singapore. This fund is part of Chromia’s strategy to diversify into data-oriented fields and encourage the growth of AI applications within the blockchain space. Led by Yeou Jie, head of Business Development at Chromia, the fund aims to support innovative projects and developers focusing on AI technologies and data-rich applications.

Asgard Mainnet Upgrade to Launch in Late 2024
In addition to the fund, Chromia is preparing for a significant upgrade to its network, set to roll out in Q4 2024. Known as the ‘Asgard’ upgrade, this will introduce ‘Extensions’—customized chains designed to enhance functionality across Chromia’s platform. These new features will allow native dApps and third-party developers to access capabilities such as oracles, AI model computations, and advanced data management using zero-knowledge proofs.
Henrik Hjelte, co-founder of Chromia, stated, “By supporting AI and other data-centric solutions, we’re positioning Chromia for broader partnerships and expanding the ecosystem in fresh directions.”

Chromia’s unique relational database architecture has already proven effective across various industries, allowing for efficient management of large data volumes.
