Shiba Inu’s community admin, Ragnar Shib, has successfully reclaimed control of his Telegram account following a recent security breach. The hack had involved the unauthorized use of his handle to promote fraudulent giveaway offers, targeting members of the Shiba Inu community.
Restoring Confidence in the SHIB Army
Ragnar took to the X platform to reassure the Shiba Inu community of the regained security of his Telegram account. He emphasized that his Telegram handle was now secure, having been moved to a new device to eliminate potential threats from the previous exploit on his former phone.

To bolster security further, Ragnar revealed that he had changed his password to a more secure one and implemented two-factor authentication for added protection. These enhanced security measures also extended to his accounts on the X platform and elsewhere.
Understanding the Hack
In response to inquiries about the breach, Ragnar shared a link to a medium post titled “How hackers are getting access to 1000s of Telegram accounts.” The post, albeit four years old, shed light on the tactics employed by scammers to compromise accounts. These tactics included SIM swapping, brute force attacks on four-digit PINs, SMS flooding, and voicemail exploitation.
While Telegram has addressed some of these vulnerabilities since the post’s publication, the recent incident serves as a stark reminder that the threat of account hijacking remains a concern, emphasizing the importance of ongoing vigilance and security measures within the cryptocurrency community.
